In terms of popularity, it’s going to be difficult to beat last night’s blog about Rita. It was shared almost 400 times on Facebook. This is a new and respectable record for a blog which is just six months old.
It seems that we are all desperately waiting for some good news from the Middle East, and when it does happen, it spreads like wildfire.
Well, this is the Middle East after all. So don’t get too used to hearing good news. There is too much history and not enough geography in this region, so bad news is far more abundant.
And here is a fascinating debate about an issue which makes much news: Israel’s settlement policies.
Are you for or against Israel’s settlement policies and why?
This debate, filmed in London at the Royal Geographical Society on 15th January 2013 is a fascinating and sometimes heated exchange of ideas.
The motion is: “Israel is Destroying Itself With its Settlement Policy: If Settlement Expansion Continues Israel Will Have No Future”
Those arguing against the motion are:
Danny Dayan – Chairman of the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria.
Caroline Glick: Senior contributing editor, Jerusalem Post.
Those arguing for the motion:
Daniel Levy – Director for Middle East and North Africa at the European Council on Foreign Relations
Willian Sieghart- Founder and Chairman of Forward Thinking NGO
Hope you find it as interesting as I did:
