The Israeli government, headed by prime minister Netanyahu has to address the threats posed by Iran’s nuclear program. Any Israeli leader would.
However there is a serious imbalance in the amount of attention paid by Netanyahu towards Iran.
In Israel we have serious internal problems which also need attention, such as the rising poverty rate.
According to this year’s report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD):
One in five Israelis and one in three Israeli children live in poverty.
Whats worst is that the number of poor in Israel is increasing. According to Yediot Ahronot, the poverty rate in Israel in 1995 was 13.8% of the population, whereas in 2012 it was 21% of the population
Netanyahu did not invent poverty in Israel. It was there before he took office. However he needs to address a serious imbalance in his focus. Israel is facing a poverty crisis while according to a recent research, the country is facing an unparalleled brain drain. Israelis going poor and leaving the country because of lack of jobs and education is also a major security threat, and a victory for its enemies.
