There are not many foreign based academics who have had the opportunity to teach in Iran recently.
Professor Norman Finklestein is one of the few who has. He recently spent two weeks in Iran where he gave a number of lectures on John Stuart Mill’s book “On Liberty”.
While in Iran, he also spoke to lecturers who taught in the city of Qom as well as officials in Iran’s Ministry of foreign affairs. This is in addition to a public session in the city of Mashhad regarding the Holocaust. His findings are quite interesting, especially regarding how the Holocaust and the Jewish people are viewed in Iran.
I would like to thank Danny Postel from Denver University’s Center for Middle East Studies for hosting the interview. His views on Iran were informative and interesting.
