“The Past”

An Iranian movie, called “The Past” has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

So 2014 could turn out to be another great year for Iranian film makers.

This is especially true as Asghar Farhadi, the Director of this movie has already won a Golden Globes and an Oscar for his other movie “A Separation“. So if he wins a Golden Globes for his new movie, it will be his second.

The plot for his new movie, “The Past” has been described as:

An Iranian man deserts his French wife and two children to return to his homeland. Meanwhile, his wife starts up a new relationship, a reality her husband confronts upon his wife’s request for a divorce.

So far, the reviews have been great. The popular movie review site “rotten tomatoes” has given 95% approval rating for this movie, which is excellent. IMDB has given this movies 8 out of 10.

The film is in French. Below you will find the trailer with English subtitles.

Wishing Asghar Farhadi the very best with his new film. It’s amazing how much he has achieved and how proud he has made Iranians around the world.
