Tweeting in Persian Barak starts his tweet by offering his condolences to Foreign Minister Zarif. He ends his tweet by quoting part of a verse from the Koran which some religious Iranians and Muslims state after someone has passed away. (أنا للة وأنا اليه راجعون) loosely translates into “Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return”. Its kind of a religious consolation to the family of the deceased that their dead relative has returned to his/her maker.
Barak’s action shows that despite the hatred which the Iranian regime has for the state of Israel and her people, humans are all the same and we all suffer no matter which side of the political divide we are on. And that we must show humanity to others in their hour of sorrow, no matter who they are.
Perhaps this will set an example for the Iranian regime to start seeing Israelis as human beings.
